At twenty years of age, Kate’s story is a basic one as far as being a mutant is concerned. She had a relatively normal life growing up in a small, southern Floridian town. Her mother was a teacher and her father owned an Italian café. The day her powers emerged, her parents booted her off to the Xavier Institute. They didn’t send her because they were ashamed; they sent her so she would be safe and able to learn to use her powers.

At the Xavier Institute Kate finished high school, learned to use her powers and trained to become an X-Man. Upon completion of high school, Kate enrolled in NYU and was accepted into the Leonard N. Stern school of business. She chose to live in the dormitories during the spring and fall. Kate took on as many hours as she could even going to far as to take a couple of classes each summer. However, during the summer months she resided at Xavier's where she continued to train. She graduated in three years thanks in part to taking the full amount of classes each semester, her summer classes and working her rear-end off with a very inactive social life. She was not a perfect student, she barely managed to graduate with a B average. During her last few months in college she worked as an intern at the X-Corporation. After receiving a bachelors in International Business with minors in politics and, she choose to take a few months off. She spent her summer touring the globe. She visited six continents before returning back to New York.

She’s not quite sure what happened to her brothers. They both went missing under not quite honorable circumstances. Kate has searched for clues but has found nothing. The only thing she was left was sizeable bank account in the Cayman Islands and a letter telling her not to worry. It wasn’t enough. She still worried.
